Clackamas County Transportation, in Partnership with the Confluence Environmental Center, has advertised a Safe Routes to Schools Program Outreach and Encouragement Coordinator to focus on education and outreach of the health, safety, and environmental benefits of youth walking and bicycling to school throughout the diverse communities in the North Clackamas School District (Clackamas, Sunnyside, Happy Valley, Milwaukie).
This position is a new AmeriCorps position and it will conduct outreach and serve as an encouragement resource to three to four schools in North Clackamas School District, and engage with North Clackamas School District and the Parent Teacher Organizations (PTO’s) to better understand the barriers to more diverse, low‐income schools in participating in Safe Routes to Schools programs, and how what unique programs can be developed to take advantage of opportunities to better serve these schools.

The Safe Routes to School National Partnership seeks a passionate and energetic Outreach Specialist to work under contract to ensure that the National Partnership’s Fire Up Your Feet program engages schools (students, school staff and parents) in the SW Washington area including Clark, Cowlitz, Lewis, Skamania and Wahkiakum counties during the Spring 2016 campaign.
The Outreach Specialist will collaborate with Fire Up Your Feet staff, National Partnership regional staff and partner organizations such as PTAs on achieving program goals, and will provide direct programmatic support to low income communities within the region. A successful contractor may have the opportunity to work on future campaigns in the spring and fall of each school year.
This paid position will last approximately 8 weeks from mid-April through early June.
- School program experience
- Strong community network within the region served and ability to cultivate strong relationships within the community
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to work independently
- Strong organizational skills
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
- Must have access to a car and valid driver’s license
- Must have ability to work from home with functioning computer

Beaverton School District (proposals due June 5)
Beaverton School District (BSD) was awarded a Federal Transit Administration grant from Metro’s Regional Travel Options program (Federal Grant). The grant is a two year grant to start July 1, 2015. The objective of BSD’s grant proposal is to establish a long term plan, policy and programs for the district’s Safe Routes to School program. BSD is presently seeking a consultant to staff this project.

The Healthy Living Collaborative of Southwest Washington (HLC) is looking for a Project Coordinator to be responsible for coordinating environmental strategies to promote health, strategies to build support for healthy lifestyles, health systems interventions to promote the quality of healthcare delivery, and community clinical linkages. This position is Full-Time and will be housed at the ESD 112 Vancouver Campus providing services throughout Clark, Cowlitz, Wahkiakum, and Skamania counties.
